This course will prepare attendees to code diagnoses using ICD-10 and
 how to use diagnostic codes to accurately reflect the severity of the
condition and the effect on treatment intensity and cost. Additionally,
they will learn the pitfalls of using an electronic medical record to document skilled care as well as how properly document the differences between rehabilitative and maintenance therapies.
Course Objectives:
1.       Understand the commonalities and differences between ICD-10 and ICD-9
2.       Be able to explain the organizational structure of ICD-10
3.       Successfully code basic physical medicine diagnoses in ICD-10
4.       Understand the elements of skilled acre
5.       Describe the differences between documenting rehabilitative and maintenance therapy

6.       Use ICF concepts to characterize the severity of the patient care episode.
