Course Description:

Understand the prevalence of Si joint pain. Review the anatomy and biomechanics of the SI Joint. Review the Integrated Model of SIJ Function. Understand the relationship between the lumbar spine, SI joint, and hip. Review subjective history for patients with SIJ pain. Correctly perform SIJ provocation testing. Review SI joint rehabilitation with review of current evidence.

 

Course Instructors: 

Genné McDonald, PT

She has 29 years of clinical experience related to treatment of the lumbopelvic region and the SI joint. She graduated from Oakland University in 1989 with her undergraduate prep at Michigan State University. She was former Adjunct Faculty and a Clinical Lecturer at the University of Florida DPT Program and former Faculty for the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Health Institute.

Her publications include Musculoskeletal LBP During Pregnancy and Piriformis Syndrome and she was an editor and creator of the Gynecological Manual for the Women’s Health Section of the APTA. She has been a speaker for the American Physical Therapy Association regarding the treatment of Lumbopelvic Pain.  She is currently the Program/Project Manager for Medical Affairs at SI-BONE and runs a consulting division of 86 manual physical therapists nationwide.

Joe Streich, PT, MSPT

Founder and co-owner of Therapy Specialists of Oklahoma a local physical therapy in private practice company with two locations in Edmond and one in Midwest City.  Joe is also working with SI-Bone on a contract basis educating medical providers on SI joint provocation testing.  

He is a native Oklahoman raised in Northwest Oklahoma City where he attended Putnam City North High School, graduating in 1992.  Then attended Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, MO on a football/academic scholarship where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1997.

He then returned to Oklahoma and worked in the fitness and sports development industry before deciding to pursue Physical Therapy as a career. He moved to Kansas City and earned a Master of Science in Physical Therapy degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2000 then returned to Edmond, OK.

His practice consists of working with sports medicine and general orthopedics.  Joe is certified to perform dry needling and is a very skilled manual Physical Therapist.

He is a long time active member of the Oklahoma Physical Therapy Association as well as a member of the Private Practice Section of the America Physical Therapy Association.

He is a die-hard University of Oklahoma (OU) football fan as well an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball fan. Joe also enjoys all forms of exercise and a good round of golf. But most of all, he appreciates spending quality time with his wife, Tammy, and their daughter, Sophie
