Physical Therapy Assistant Needed in Oklahoma City

 

The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for treating referred patients and executing treatment plans that include a full range of treatment procedures and modalities.  These treatment plans are designed to restore individual patients to their optimal functional level and to enhance their adaptive capacities through the use of physical measures, activities, prostheses and/or assistive devices.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

HOURS:

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

 

DUTIES:

·         Provide PT treatments after a comprehensive patient evaluation is completed by a physical therapist.

·         Responsible for participating and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and techniques related to Physical Therapy and other related topics.

·         Responsible for maintaining open communication with patients, families, Medical Center staff and others.

·         Perform duties as above under professional guidance by the Chief of Physical Therapy or an on-site Physical Therapist. 

·         The Physical Therapy Assistant must properly document patient records in a timely manner, in accordance with the contract provisions. 

·         The PTA shall be required to input all data into the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). 

                This data will include, but not be limited to, the following:   

·         Notes and electronic encounters are directly entered into CPRS.

·         Electronic progress notes are completed on the day of each visit.

·         Discharge Summaries are completed within 3 working days of discontinuing care and are directly entered into CPRS.

·         Event capture data is recorded on every patient every time they are treated.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

·         Degree.  An associate’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited college or university and completion of a physical therapy assistant clinical practice program.  Both the education and clinical practice program must have been approved by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education and have been completed at an accredited college or university. 

·         Current, full, active, unrestricted license to practice physical therapy.

 

Therapy Assistant should have experience to provide physical therapy services in a therapeutic setting such as:

 

·         Ability to treat patients in hospital gym, at bedside, in intensive care units, in the Nursing Home Care Unit and on an Outpatient basis.     

·         Treat diverse diagnosis to achieve meaningful functional outcomes.

·         Interpretation of physical therapist plan of care, physicians' prescriptions, and medical records to determine change in medical stability.

·         Administration of standardized tests and ongoing assessments.

·         Assists in the development and implementation of a physical therapy treatment programs for patients after evaluation by a Physical Therapist.

·         Working effectively with patients, families, friends, and treatment team members.

·         Independently using judgment to modify treatment for changing medical conditions or because of a variety of severe physical disabilities.

·         Implementing treatment plans which directly affect the patient’s social, economic, and functional well being.

·         Effectively communicating, both orally and in writing.

·         Working effectively with treatment team members and other health care providers in coordinating the patient’s total care
